United for Portland is proud to endorse Olivia Clark for Portland City Council in District 4.
Olivia is also endorsed by Northwest Oregon Labor Council, Portland Fire Fighters Association, Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors, SEIU Oregon, Portland Police Association, Multifamily NW, Governor John Kitzhaber, Senator Ginny Burdick, and many others.
We all agree: Olivia will be a strong leader for the city of Portland.
The Oregonian newspaper also endorsed Olivia. Here's what they had to say:
Clark, 70, has worked at the state level for former Gov. John Kitzhaber and at the local level for TriMet. She has run a nonprofit for building affordable housing and helped secure funding for transportation and infrastructure projects. Her varied background will help guide a City Council that will need to strengthen relationships with other jurisdictions – at the same time councilors are building relationships with one another. The ability to rally people together around a goal is a hallmark of Clark’s work for years.
Clark also brings a strong focus on housing solutions, whether it’s welcoming more manufactured housing into the city or converting old hotels back into the single-room-occupancy complexes that filled some of our housing needs. Like several others, she supports increasing the police force along with Portland Street Response and wants to expand the unit’s authority to transport people to services.
